Frequently asked
questions

Why did Tallow Verde Group decide to start production and processing in Nicaragua?

The Republic of Nicaragua is geographically strategic because of its proximity to North America and because it has access to the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, allowing goods to be shipped by different maritime routes. This translates into shorter lead times for the arrival of products to Mexico or the United States and a reduction in transportation costs.

Tallow Verde Group processes the tallow. What happens with the meat?

Other than the tallow and some of the side products after the cow has been slaughtered, the meat will be returned to the farmers and ranchers who manage their own distribution. Because we apply better slaughter methods that will avoid the suffering of the cattle, this will diminish the effects of rigor mortis and will prevent hardening of the beef, a common problem for beef in Central America. As a result, the farmer and rancher will be able to obtain higher quality meat and sell it at a higher price. Based on fair business practices in our relationship with the farmers and ranchers, we get their trust, so we can help to educate them on what we expect from them when they raise their cattle and help them to create a better welfare for their animals which we demand if they want their cattle to be processed in our slaughterhouses. We offer incentives to them to treat their animals better.

Any risks associated with the processing business and supply to your customers?

For a processing business to be profitable and sustainable, the processor must have significant, sustained demand for processing services. Because our slaughter methods are state of the art which lead to higher quality meat that benefits the cattle owners, enough farmers and ranchers commit to bringing enough livestock, consistently over the year. Our farmers and rancher pay us a fair fee for our slaughter and processing services and we collect the tallow for processing in return at no cost. This makes the process a win-win for both the farmers/ranchers and Tallow Verde Group.
